Job Title: Operations Quality Engineer

Job description:

This position is responsible for providing Quality Engineering support to the Operations organization, Engineering Prototype shop and Test Lab, as well as facilities where needed, including ensuring all areas are in compliance with Abbott Spine's Quality System policies and processes, and ISO and FDA regulations.
Skills: Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.


Minimum 5 years of prior work experience in a Medical Device manufacturing organization supporting Operations. Orthopedic and/or Spine highly preferred.

Experience supporting a machine prototype or production organization highly desirable.

Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

Specific Skills:

Previous experience in a medical device operations organization.

Strong problem solving skills

Six sigma and lean skills

Must have excellent understanding and applications experience of FDA QSRs, ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 14971 regulations

Excellent interpersonal skills required

Very strong G, D & T skills required

Must have strong understanding of metals and polymers and their applications (Titanium, medical grade Stainless Steel, PEEK plastics)

Must have strong understanding of various processes used in medical device industry (e.g. passivation, anodizing, heat treatments, surface treatments (e.g. Alodizing), Cleaning and Decontamination, etc.).

Ability to achieve goals through interaction with individuals not under their direct supervision.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be attentive to detail; detail oriented

Must be results driven, making and meeting commitments both those made internally and those made externally

Must have strong computer skills (Word, Excel, drawing and/or CAD package)

Must be a strong individual contributor, able to work reliably unsupervised

Must be customer focused/oriented
